BOXES AND SUPPLIES

UPwright Movers offer full packing and unpacking services and we encourage you to utilize our professionals to pack your valuables. If you choose to pack yourself, or wish to pre-pack certain items, it is very important to use the correct packing supplies.

We can help you determine which packing materials you may need and provide you with top quality materials at very low costs.

What are some of the types of boxes available?

Standard moving boxes usually come in three different sizes:

  • Small
  • Medium
  • Large

Specialty moving boxes are not identified by size but rather by use, ie: Wardrobe Box, Mirror or Art Box, and Dishpacks.

Mattress covers are available in all bed sizes including baby cribs. If a mattress is going to be stored, it is highly recommended that a cover be used to protect it.

Please note that we will buy back all UNUSED boxes the day of the move, so know that if you do buy more boxes than you use, you can recoup the cost!

What size boxes should I use? Are there guidelines for proper packing?

The size box that you should use is determined by the size and weight of the items you wish to place in it. As a general rule, no box should weigh more than 50 lbs. Your heavy items should be packed in your small boxes, and use the large boxes for light items. When your box is full, fill the dead space with crumpled paper to avoid having items shift during transport.

How many of each type of box will I need?

Our Moving Specialist will work with you to define the size of your home, the number and size of your various in-home storage, and many other factors which will enable them to provide you with a list of what you will need. This accurate estimate saves you money, gives you the right tools to protect your valuables, and saves you the time of trying to determine your needs on your own.

What Materials do I need?

In addition to the various size and type of boxes, you will want these items:

  • Paper that you can crush to fill dead spaces
  • Packing tape to form and close your boxes
  • Cardboard that can be used as dividers
  • Color coding-identifing the room items belong

Everything but clothes needs to be taken out to avoid breaking or losing any other items. You are more than welcome to leave all the clothes in there to make it easier for you!

Yes we do. Just make sure Gas is out of all yard equipment and grills are empty of ash and coals.

How do you calculate how our move will be estimated?

We take several things into consideration such as how long it will take us, how many guys you will need for your move (typically 2-3), and if it is local or long distance. After these calculations, we will give you an itemized estimate so you can see exactly what you are being charged for. Just remember that every move is different and can change all the way up until the morning of. You may find you get more done than you thought, or the opposite and not as much got done. Either way, we will take care of what is left. To ensure no hidden costs, our movers will give you a final estimate before starting any work, the morning of the move.

Will you assemble the furniture in the new place?

We will assemble anything that the movers disassemble to move. So if they take your bed apart to move it, they will put it back together in the new place. If it is already disassembled before we move you, we will not put it together in the new place.
